The first game of the season was in doubt all week due to the continuous rainfall. Most courses were closed but here a little mud and puddles didn't bother 28 Dogleg players. The sun shone and wind blew, especially on the 17th, and an enjoyable day was had by most!! Scroll past the photos to see the results.
36 points on such a day was an unbelievable score. Dave amassed 19 points on the front and 17 on the back. Captain Pepe presents the champers. A fairway behind on 32 points came Warren and Craig W. Craig told me at the start of our round how much he longed to get back to single figures and hey presto!!!
Complaining of a hip injury and hobbling around the club house before the game, didn't stop Pepe from smashing a monster drive at the 10th, that won him the prize.
The 159 yard, downhill par 3 17th proved a little difficult. The wind seemed to pick-up for everyone here and not one of the 28 golfers managed to land on the putting surface. Perhaps "nearest the green" next time???
Craig collected the prize for an excellent second shot to about 6 feet from the pin on the 18th. Didn't manage a birdie, although he did have 2 birdies, 7 pars and an arthritic big toe during his round.
